About

Insurance is one of the most important things most people buy — and one of the most confusing. The policies are full of jargon, the fine print is easy to miss, and it often feels like the details are designed to be hard to understand. KnowMyCover exists to fix that.

We are an independent insurance information site. Our mission is simple: to take complicated insurance topics and explain them in clear, plain English, so everyday readers can understand their options and make confident decisions.

What we cover

Our guides focus on the insurance decisions that matter most to families and retirees: life insurance (including final expense and burial coverage), long-term care insurance and the real costs of senior care, Medicare choices, retirement income products like annuities, and everyday coverage such as auto and home insurance. Every guide aims to answer the question the way a well-informed friend would — honestly, including the trade-offs.

What we are (and what we’re not)

We are not an insurance company, a broker, or a licensed advisor, and we don’t sell policies. We also don’t accept payment from insurers to recommend their products. What we do is research how insurance works, compare how different types of coverage are structured, and explain the trade-offs honestly. Think of us as the friend who reads the fine print so you don’t have to.

Who’s behind KnowMyCover

KnowMyCover was founded and is written by Kristianto. He researches insurance products and breaks down the details into language anyone can follow. He is not a licensed insurance advisor — his focus is careful research and clear explanation, built from official and reputable sources such as state insurance regulators, Medicare.gov, VA.gov, IRS publications, the Insurance Information Institute, and insurers’ own documentation — rather than guesswork.

How we keep our guides trustworthy

Insurance rules, limits, and prices change over time, so we date-stamp our guides, review them against current sources, and update them when things change — especially annual figures like Medicare premiums, IRS limits, and benefit rates. Our full research and correction process is described in our Editorial Policy. If you ever spot something that looks out of date or incorrect, please tell us through our Contact page — we take every correction seriously.

Advertising disclosure

KnowMyCover is reader-supported. We may display advertising on the site to keep our guides free to read. Advertisers never influence what we write, which topics we cover, or the conclusions we reach.
